New rumors about potential PS5 games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Silent Hill, Gran Turismo 7, and Horizon Zero Dawn 2 have appeared online. In further game-related news, Sony has instructed developers to ensure PlayStation 5 compatibility with upcoming PS4 titles that are submitted to the company from July 13 onwards.

After months of mostly tiny tidbits of information about the PS5 it now seems the floodgates have been opened in regard to Sony’s next-gen console. In terms of games, we have a group of tantalizing rumors and some developer instructions to report about. According to the PS5 game rumors, Sony has been very busy with numerous studios to ensure gamers get their fill at console launch time.

The latest rumors, which come via 4chan (so pinch of salt), state that a Marvel's Spider-Man 2 teaser is incoming and that another Marvel title is being developed (Daredevil? Wolverine?). Apparently, Horizon Zero Dawn 2 is already looking amazing and should be ready by 2021, while Silent Hill and Gran Turismo 7 are also in the pipeline for the PS5.

The same source post mentions an intriguing “playable Pixar movie” type of game for the PS5 that could end up being a launch title, and allegedly some franchises from the days of the original PlayStation console are going to be revisited for the next-gen console. The incredibly popular Half-Life: Alyx will supposedly come to the PSVR2 – so overall, some exciting times for future PS5 gamers ahead, even if only some of the rumors end up being accurate.

Sony wants to make sure there are plenty of titles ready for the PS5, so developers have been instructed that PS4 games submitted to the company after July 13 must be compatible with the PlayStation 5. A report from Eurogamer has also mentioned that Sony has made it clear that it is “strongly recommended” games submitted before the abovementioned date should also incorporate PS5 compatibility. It’s likely that backwards compatibility is going to be one of the many battlegrounds that the upcoming PS5 vs. Xbox Series X war is going to be fought on.
