Xiaomi India teases laptop release; Mi Notebook and Redmibook likely to go on sale soon

by

Xiaomi will soon unveil some new laptops in India, according to a teaser posted by the company's Twitter handle. We can expect to see a range of Mi Notebooks and Redmibooks on the marketplace soon.

Xiaomi has unleashed a plethora of affordable gadgets in the Indian market over the last few years. The company sells just about everything ranging from smartphones to TVs, and even screwdrivers. We can now add laptops to that list too.

Xiaomi India posted a not-so-cryptic Tweet that tagged the official Twitter handles of Dell, HP, Acer, Lenovo, and ASUS, and said that it's time to say hello. It is obvious what Xiaomi is hinting at here. Laptops are an integral part of any gadget ecosystem, and it was only a matter of time before Xiaomi made theirs available in additional markets.

It'll be interesting to see what SKUs end up in the price-sensitive Indian market. We're probably looking at the new AMD Ryzen 4000 series Redmibooks and a few other Mi-branded laptops. Xiaomi will have a significant competitive edge over the competition if it opts to manufacture all hardware locally, as it attracts significantly lesser tax.
