McLaren confirms that it is no longer working with OnePlus
by Anil SatyanarayanaMcLaren has just acknowledged that its partnership with OnePlus has ended. The company doesn't explicitly state why the nearly two-year-old endeavor came to an end and hopes that it can work with OnePlus in the future. OnePlus still might release a limited-edition version of its upcoming flagship later in the year, though.
Themed smartphone releases are something we've seen a lot of lately. Some of the notable examples include Huawei's Porsche Design phones, Galaxy Note 10 Plus Star Wars Edition, and OnePlus' McLaren Design series. Unfortunately, we won't get to see any more McLaren-themed from OnePlus, as both companies appear to have parted ways.
McLaren told Android Authority in a statement that the two companies are no longer working together. The information essentially confirms an earlier leak, which stated that OnePlus and McLaren had parted ways. OnePlus' statement doesn't tell us why they parted ways. If you fancy such a device, the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren edition is still up for grabs. You'll have to grab it quickly, though, as stocks won't last forever.
OnePlus and McLaren had joined forces in 2018 when the former released its first-ever car-themed OnePlus 6T. It'll be interesting to see who OnePlus partners with this time around, as the Chinese OEM is quite fond of making limited-edition smartphones. We should know more about it when the company unveils the OnePlus 8T series later this year.
