BT Sport offers 50% bill credit for June as Premier League announces return

BT Sport customers will be able to get a 50% bill credit on their subscriptions next month, with Premier League football now set to return on Wednesday 17 June.

The sports channel had allowed customers to claim bill credit for the full cost of their April and May subscriptions, while live sport was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

And it's now confirmed it will extend its bill credit offer for June – but only for 50% of what you normally pay.

I've applied for BT Sport bill credit previously – what do I need to do?

BT says if you've already applied for a bill credit for April or May, you don't need to do anything – you'll receive your 50% bill credit automatically in June.

If you'd asked for your bill credit to be donated to the NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Urgent Appeal, your 50% credit for June will be automatically donated on your behalf.

Can I still apply for BT Sport bill credit if I've not done it yet?

If you've not yet applied for BT Sport bill credit, you'll be able to apply for your 50% June bill credit from Monday 1 June.

You'll be able to do this online by filling out a form on this BT Sport page – BT has asked customers not to call unless it's urgent, so it can prioritise dealing with vulnerable customers.

You can't backdate claims though, so unfortunately it's now too late to get a credit for April. We're checking with BT whether it's still possible to claim the bill credit for May if you do it quick, and will update this story when we hear back. 

What if I pay for BT via Virgin, Sky or TalkTalk?

Virgin Media has allowed customers who subscribe to BT Sport via it to pause their subscriptions. We're checking with Virgin Media what change there will be next month.

Sky and TalkTalk customers who have BT Sport channels agree a contract directly with BT, so should be able to follow the same steps as BT customers – though we're double-checking this is the case and will update this story when we know for sure.

What about Sky Sports subscriptions?

Earlier this week, Sky confirmed that customers who have "paused" their Sky Sports subscriptions are set to be billed again from Friday 19 June, assuming moves to kick off live sport go as planned.

At this point, customers' accounts will be automatically "un-paused", so you won't need to do anything (Sky has confirmed that customers paying for individual sports packs won't be charged if that sport hasn't returned yet).
