The four new colors for PowerBeats Pro are revealedBeats

After extensive rumors, the new Powerbeats Pro headphones from Beats have just been revealed. As you can see, the Beats true-wireless offer one instantly visible difference from AirPods: color.

Instead of the AirPods colors of white and, no, that’s it, just white, Beats Powerbeats Pro have been available in a selection of hues for a while. Until today, you could choose black, ivory, moss or navy Powerbeats Pro.

The big difference with the new PowerBeats Pro headphones announced today – indeed the only difference – is the bright, lively colors you can choose from. Though it’s also fair to say that PowerBeats Pro, though they’re pricier than AirPods are considered by many to have much better audio. All the other benefits are listed below.

In fact, today’s new colors are going to sit alongside the core colors, so there are now a total of eight shades to choose from.

The names themselves are more florid than is usual from Beats. Choose from Glacier Blue, Lava Red, Spring Yellow and Cloud Pink. Here’s what they look like.

Spring Yellow

Ah, the anticipation of sunshine and meadows of flowers. The yellow here is clean and even a little lemony, with just a touch of green giving a sharp, acidic hint. The Spring Yellow is easily my favorite, but taste is personal so maybe you’ll prefer…

Glacier Blue

Subtle and demure but still absolutely eye-catching, the pale blue looks cool enough to chill you on a hot day. Unlike Spring Yellow with its black Beats logo, here the b is a darker blue which adds to the refreshing feel.

Lava Red

Go on, if you’re feeling bold, this is the color for you. This is a hot, punchy color that is completely unmissable. Of the four, this is the real head-turner.

Cloud Pink

Like a little chunk of cotton candy, the Cloud Pink is enough to make you lick your lips in anticipation. The deeper pink for the logo just amplifies the dusty, pastel shade that will look great on any ears.

In case you’re wondering, the black case is common to all the new colors of headphones within.

What other benefits are there over Apple’s AirPods?

The earhook makes for a very secure fit. Though I’ve personally never had an issue with AirPods falling out of my ears, these are secure in even the most active of pursuits, which aids the audio as well as peace of mind.

There are four different sizes of eartips in the box – that’s one more than even AirPods Pro manage – so you can find the right size for comfort and sonic excellence.

Battery life is way better than Apple’s headphones manage: a total of nine hours from the earbuds and another 15 hours from the case. Additionally, a five-minute charge, Beats calls it Fast Fuel, gives an hour of playback, which is pretty cool.

Like AirPods, the Powerbeats Pro have the H1 chip which means you can say “Hey, Siri” to wake the virtual personal assistant.

Price and release date

The new colors go on sale on Tuesday, June 9, and they cost the same as the current model, that’s $249.95 or £219.95 in the U.K. I’ll be reviewing them in the next few days, so please check back.
