It’s been a long time coming as far as these things go. Duos Mode is now live in Call Of Duty: Warzone, the free-to-play standalone Battle Royale game that’s launched alongside Modern Warfare.

This means that you can now play Solo, Duos, Trios, or Quads in Warzone, as well as various Limited-Time Modes, Plunder and so forth. There is, to put it mildly, a ton of variety in this game.

Fans have been asking for Duos since Warzone launched about a week before the country started shutting down over the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s taken a while to get the mode hammered out, but now you can drop in against 74 other Duos and fight to be the last Duo standing.

As with other non-Solo modes, if your teammate is downed you’ll have a chance to revive them before they bleed out. If you die, you’ll face off in a 1v1 fight against another player in the Gulag (but only once).

I think it’s important to have teams of various sizes in Battle Royale games because it’s not always certain that you can get a specific team size together. Now I can hop in solo or with one to three friends. In Fortnite there’s Solo, Duos and Squads but no Trios (at this time—Trios was an LTM at one point) which is a bummer since I like to play with my two kids.

Apex Legends is the most limiting of the big Battle Royales, and would really benefit from the same variety that Warzone offers.

Duos is live now and you can hop in and play for free.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 4 kicks off next week on June 3rd and will introduce new Multiplayer maps, Captain Price as a playable Operator, a new Battle Pass and much more.
