The State Government has requested the Civil Aviation Ministry to reduce the number of flights from five high risk States affected by Covid-19. Earlier in the day there was talk that the flights from these states would be banned, but later the Minister clarified that they have only asked for the number of flights to be reduced as asking for a ban would be violation of fundamental rights under freedom to move with reasonable restrictions.
A decision to make this request to the Ministry was taken at a Cabinet decision on Thursday. Briefing about the Cabinet decisions, Law Minister JC Madhuswamy said Karnataka would request the Civil Aviation Ministry to reduce the number of flights from high risk states- Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The State fears that after June 1, there will be deluge of people from all over as trains too will resume operations. βIt becomes difficult to institutional quarantine everyone of them due to inadequate facilities,ββ he said.
Madhuswamy said restrictions have also been imposed for people coming by road from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat to ensure adequate quarantine facilities.
