Executive Turntable: Revolt Names New COO, Shelter Music Group Expands Management Team
by Chris EggertsenDetavio Samuels has been named COO at Revolt Media & TV, where he will oversee all aspects of programming and development at the multiplatform hip-hop brand founded by Sean “Diddy” Combs. Samuels will report directly to Revolt CEO Roma Khanna.
Samuels joins Revolt from Interactive One, where he served as president and led the company’s cross-platform sales, brand solution and branded entertainment group One Solution/OneX. In that role, he was responsible for driving overall growth of the company’s digital media platform iOne, which produces and distributes new and pop culture content. Prior to that, he was president at advertising agency GlobalHue-Detroit.
Carl Stubner’s Shelter Music Group has expanded its client roster with the hire of several new managers. They include Paul Geary and Steve Wood of Global Artist Management, Alison Taylor of Work Management, Derek Brewer of Manifest GRP and Will Hoffman.
Geary and Wood bring clients including Godsmack, The Hollywood Vampires, Joe Perry, Johnny Depp and Hoobastank to the Shelter fold, while Taylor brings Barenaked Ladies, Kyla Jade and Marshall; Brewer brings Dance Gavin Dance, Palaye Royale and Crown the Empire, among others; and Hoffman brings Nothing More.
Intellectual property rights management company GoDigital Media Group has named Doug Reinart COO Americas. The hire marks a return for Reinart to the company, which he left two years ago to work as a consultant for businesses in the automotive, industrial, aerospace and technology industries.
Since Reinart’s exit, Go Digital has acquired a number of businesses, including record label Cinq Music, Latin music-focused multichannel YouTube network MCN VidaPrimo, digital rights management company AdShare, digital supply chain company ContentBridge and digital publisher mitú, among others.
Hallwood Media, the new producer-songwriter management company co-founded by former Geffen Records president Neil Jacobson, has hired manager Jake Posner as senior vp of A&R and head of its New York office. With his hiring, Posner will bring two of his clients – producer PJ Bianco and songwriter Chelsea Balan – to the company.
Posner is founder and president of The Culture Theory, where he manages pop-rock band A R I Z O N A and singer-songwriter Ryan Pulford.
The National Women’s History Museum has appointed DMI Music & Media Solutions CEO and chief creative officer and songwriter-producer Tena Clark to its board of directors.
Over the course of her career, Clark has written and produced for artists including Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, LeAnn Rimes, Dionne Warwick and Chaka Khan. She also won a Grammy for her work with Natalie Cole. Additionally, she has contributed to film and TV soundtracks including Hope Floats, The Five Heart Beats, Where the Heart Is, My Best Friend’s Wedding and Desperate Housewives and wrote and produced “Break the Chain,” the theme song for Eve Ensler’s One Billion Rising, a movement to end violence against women and girls.
