Ice Cube, Ariana Grande & More Artists React to the Police Officer Charged with George Floyd's Murder

by

Vince Staples, Ice Cube, Ariana Grande and more artists reacted to ex-Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin being charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter Friday (May 29) after he knelt on George Floyd's neck, which ultimately resulted in his death.

The news comes four days after Floyd's unlawful death on Monday (May 25) which sparked endless protests in Minneapolis, where officers threw tear gas on civilians and even arrested a CNN journalist and camera crew reporting live on air.

"A murderer is being held in protective custody," Grande wrote on Twitter while sharing a local update that stated Chauvin is being held in protective custody, a type of detention meant to protect a person from outside threats.

Meanwhile, Staples quoted the titular line fromĀ N.W.A.'s hit "F--- the Police," while the former N.W.A. member stated, "1 down 4 to go."
