How Logan man plans to break $17M Lotto win news to his family
by Shanee DobesonHey Dad, nice new wheels…
A Logan man is planning to break the news to his family that he won more than $17 million in last night’s Powerball draw by pulling into his driveway in a flash new car.
The Queenslander held the only division one winning entry across Australia, winning a whopping $17,361,060.30.
However, the lucky man was completely oblivious he’d even become an overnight multi-millionaire until he received the life-changing phone call this morning.
“Gosh, sorry, I am only just getting out of bed. I am still half asleep! I have been a bit lazy today,” he told The Lott.
“Wow! You are not pranking me, are you? I have a lot of friends that prank me!
“Oh my god! You can’t imagine how much this means to me. I think I am going to pass out! This completley changes everything for me.”
The man revealed that he almost didn’t buy a ticket, but decided to do so at the very last minute.
“I don’t think I will sleep for six weeks after this phone call!” he said.
“This is life-changing for my family… I am not going to tell them, I am just going to rock up to the house with some fancy purchase, maybe a new car, and see if they can guess we are now multi-millionaires!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his multi-million-dollar prize, the man said he already had a long list.
“I am definitely going to retire from work. I want to buy a house too and a new car,” he said.
“I will share it with my kids and a few friends.
“I want to see the world! I have barely been anywhere.”
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 8-game QuickPick entry at IGA Meadowbrook.
