"Return to training was as if I'd only been away a week"
by BeSoccerThe Belgian Thibaut Courtois, the Real Madrid goalkeeper says he feels "prepared for what is to come," the resumption of La Liga in the coming weeks, in which Real Madrid will try and go ahead of Barcelona and win the title.
Courtois admitted to UEFA that "he was looking forward to getting back training" while lockdown was going on and since he returned, he said he's "dealing pretty well with it."
"The first week more than anything was a bit weird because we had to train individually, but these weeks we have been in small groups and been able to do more things," he admitted.
"Furthermore, On my first day of training after two months, I realised I hadn't lost anything. That's why I feel prepared for what's coming," the Belgian said.
He said that in the first week, he could tell there were strict regulations in place and that it affected training because the goalkeeping coach "couldn't even shoot or pass." "It was a bit bit strange to start with, but then we got used to it," the Real Madrid keeper added.
"Now we are training in groups, there has been shooting practice and the outfield players can work on possession. The goalkeeping work I've been doing has been the same as I've been doing for the last 11 years as a professional. We're looking foeward to playing games in traning, 11 against 11, everyone smiling,", he concluded.
