Coppa Italia resumption could be boycotted

by

The decision to play the three remaining Coppa Italia games in just four days has not gone down well with the players. There is a real threat of it being boycotted.

Italy will see a host of matches being played in the month and a half ahead once the season resumes. And that has upset some clubs, especially those which are still in the Coppa Italia.

The Coppa Italia was suspended with three games left to play, the second legs of the semi-finals and the final. It has been decided that they will be played on 13th, 14th and 17th June, so one of the two finalists will have 24 hours less recovery time.

And that has not gone down well. Juve v Milan will be played first and then Inter v Napoli will be the day after. None of the four teams are happy with the dates for these games, but those in the second semi-final even less so.

They are so angry that 'Sport' says that Inter are even considering the possiblity of playing the 'Primeravera' (youth) team in the semi-final. Inter have got one extra Serie A match left to play compared to the other three clubs.
