Fear psychosis gripped all staffs of the Covid-19 Hospital here after two nurses tested positive for coronavirus.

On the condition of anonymity, some nurses said that at least 25 of them (nurses) and five doctors had come in contact with the two infected nurses but their swab test was not carried out. Even, some of the contacts have cold, cough and other symptoms of corona infection.

They further alleged that social distancing is not followed in their hostel (quarantine centre).

It may be noted that the private Jyothi Hospital at Kuruda has been made a dedicated Covid hospital.

The hospital with 120 beds is managed by 82 staffs comprising doctors, nurses, paramedics and sweepers etc and of them 35 are base staffs of the hospital. District Project Manager Anil Mohanty said, “The two-infected nurses were residing in the quarantine centre created in the hospital campus.”

Currently 17 patients are undergoing treatment in the Covid hospital while 129 of 149 total positive cases of the district have recovered.

In the meanwhile, the death of a 72-year-old man suffering from multiple diseases created confusion as his corona positive report was received following his demise and the administration neither confirmed his death due to the virus nor declared his residence area, Hinjali, under Sadar block as a containment zone.

Reports said as many as 21 medical staffs, including six doctors, who were treating the co-morbid patient are now in home quarantine.

The local Sarpanch has directed the family members of the deceased to stay in home quarantine.
