Over 36,000 migrant workers return home from UT so far

As many as 36,243 migrant workers have returned to their home towns through special shramik trains from Chandigarh so far.

 Two trains accommodating 3102 migrant workers left Chandigarh Railway Station on Thursday for Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

A special shramik train for Chapra, Hajipur, Mujaffarpur and Darbhanga in Bihar accommodated 1600 passengers from Chandigarh while another train for Nazibabad, Gonda and Gorakhpur in

Uttar Pradesh accommodated 1502 passengers, said Yashpal Garg, Secretary Social Welfare.

He said that while 36243 passengers returned home through special shramik trains, 2188 returned home through buses from Chandigarh till date.

Garg said that since all the trains that were scheduled in consultation with concerned State Governments and Railways have been sent to their destinations, the status will be reviewed to decide further course of action.
