Nayagarh coop secretary held taking bribe

Cuttack: Vigilance officers on Thursday arrested Nayagarh district’s Dhipasahi Service Cooperative Secretary Pramod Kumar Dehury for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 15,000 from Niranjan Pradhan of Kaima village under Daspalla police station in order to release payment towards earlier purchase of paddy worth Rs 2,72,250 and for sale of fresh paddy seeds. He was caught red-handed while taking bribe from the complainant.

Jharsuguda DAV girl wins int'l art test

Jharsuguda: Isha Purohit, a Standard-X student of the Jharsuguda DAV Public School, has qualified to get "Certificate in Art of Appreciation" from the jury members in an online international art competition conducted by Picaso with participation of  lakhs of students from over 70 countries. The students displayed their art on fight againstCoid-19. Isha, who has received many district, State and national-level awards for her art, is daughter of Jiban Purohit, an employee at the district police office here, and Surekha Purohit. “Our school is very fortunate to have a student like Isha,” said Principal Prasant Kumar Panda.

Scribes felicitated as corona warriors

Athagarh: Bhagirathi Kar, a politician of the Biju legacy and social activist of Athagarh who heads the Jambeswar Mishra Smruti Committee, felicitated working journalists of Athagarh on Thursday describing them as corona warriors. He honoured the scribes with bouquets, scarves and citations. As a token of love, the scribes also felicitated Kar on the occasion.
