Compulsory hotel quarantine for only 7 days

NEW DELHI, May 27: The compulsory hotel quarantine period for Indians, returning from abroad, has been reduced from 14 days to 7 days vide the revised guidelines of the health ministry for the international arrivals. The quarantine of 7 days is to b followed by 7 days of home quarantine after the medical assessment.
In a circular sent Tuesday night to the state chief secretaries, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said many hotels had forced the returnees to pay advance for 14 days. Since they can now leave for home quarantine after 7 days, the amount paid by them for the remaining 7 days has to be refunded, but reports are that some hotels are refusing to refund.
The Home Secretary asked the chief secretary to issue the directions to the hotels earmarked/used for quarantine to ensure that the foreign returnees are refunded their balance amount, without any delay.
Through another order, he has also permitted all state governments to go ahead with the opening of schools, but with restrictions of social distancing and all use the mouth cover.
