Kano State Governor,  Abdullahi Ganduje, says Kano  says he is excited about  the  decline in COVID-19 positive cases in the state.

He also said his government  had  abolished the Almajiri system of education.

Ganduje, who  said these  while giving an update on COVID-19 in Kano on Wednesday, said there  was a  great decline in the spread of the disease in the state because  the people had  adopted the safety measures to   stop the pandemic.

The governor said, “Even though the state witnessed this decline in the spread of the disease,  there are still  areas of improvement which call for government’s  efforts in community engagement.”

Ganduje  said  the state had established additional  sample collection centres.

He  said if  the Almajiri system of education must be allowed in the state, there must to be  guidelines to follow.

The guidelines, according to Ganduje, include having a curriculum that tallies with a formal school system.

Ganduje added that there must be qualified teachers to teach the Almajirai.

He said, “If these guidelines are strictly followed and abided by then we will allow for the system to fully be operated in Kano.”
