If you’re constantly tweaking and fiddling with your Gmail layout settings (or you use different devices often) you might notice that it’s sort of a pain to have to go all the way into Gmail’s settings menu to change things.

Today Google is trying to make that process a little easier by implementing a quick settings menu within Gmail that puts all of that just a click away.

Gmail quick settings

Just to be clear, Google isn’t adding anything with this menu. It still takes you to the same settings that you’ve always had on Gmail, like your layout density, themes, and what emails should show up first.

But these are all immediately accessible by just clicking on the new icon, and you can still get to the full settings menu just like you’ve always been able to.

On the plus side, this also lets you change things on the fly and see how they look in real time instead having to go back out to your inbox to see how your updated theme looks. So that’s pretty useful.

Keep an eye out for this update to hit your inbox soon. This was posted on Google’s G Suit blog, so it seems like it’ll apply to those users first, but cross your fingers for a general rollout afterwards.
