Samsung finally brings its Health app to its 2020 smart TVs
by Jay BonggoltoSamsung partnered with a number of brands earlier this year to host wellness apps for consumers via its smart TVs. Mind and body fitness content from brands like barre3, Calm, Echelon, and more became available then on the company's 2018 and 2019 lineup of smart TVs in various countries as part of Samsung Health.
Today, Samsung announced the availability of its Health app on its 2020 smart TVs. The service will offer more than 5,000 hours of wellness content and over 250 videos around meditation and fitness activities like yoga, mindfulness, strength training, stretching, barre, pilates, dance, and cardio. These types of content will be free for the first year and will be provided by Calm, obé fitness, barre3, Echelon, Fitplan, and Jillian Michaels Fitness.
Regarding today's launch, Won-Jin Lee, Executive Vice President of Service Business at Samsung Electronics, said:
“The whole intention of Samsung Health is to motivate our consumers to live healthier lives by meeting them wherever they are, across Samsung platforms. We knew that to do this, we needed to develop a user-centric and immersive platform that offered a variety of in-home fitness and wellness options. Given the current climate, we hope that the launch of Samsung Health makes it easier for our consumers to prioritize their physical and mental wellbeing on a daily basis."
The Health app syncs user data from a mobile phone, wearable device and Samsung smart TV. It also allows users to set up accounts for themselves or their family members to receive personalized workout recommendations. Plus, all stats will be visible in a single place through its performance dashboard, which gathers data from various devices. There are routines and challenges as well, available to those who want to maintain a workout plan daily or set their fitness goals.
