UConn fugitive Peter Manfredonia may have been spotted in Uber to Maryland
by Natalie O'NeillThe machete-wielding University of Connecticut student who is being hunted for a killing spree may have last been seen fleeing south across the Maryland state line in an Uber, according to a report Wednesday.
Peter Manfredonia — who is wanted for allegedly slaughtering two men and seriously injuring another — was caught on camera at a Sheetz gas station convenience store in Chambersburg, Pa., before jumping in an Uber and likely heading toward Hagerstown, Maryland, police told the Connecticut Post.
“Witness descriptions and images from surveillance videos match that of Peter Manfredonia,” the Pennsylvania State Police said, adding he was caught getting into an Uber at the gas station.
Hagerstown police said they are “working to confirm or deny this information,” according to the outlet.
The 23-year-old Mansfield resident and college senior has been on the run since his violent spree — in which he allegedly slashed a 62-year-old man to death with a machete — began Friday, and is considered armed and dangerous, police said.
In the gas station footage, Manfredonia appears to be wearing brown shorts, sunglasses and a blue jacket.
