1. Lenovo Chromebook Duet

The Lenovo Chromebook Duet is one of the best Chromebooks for kids simply because of its value and affordability. Its MediaTek processor won’t win any awards, but it can handle casual tasks efficiently. It has 4GB of RAM and the base version offers 64GB of storage, which should be enough for doing homework and handling basic entertainment like streaming and light games.

The best part is that this laptop has a convertible design that allows it to become a tablet, which we know kids love using. The keyboard can be a little crammed for adults, but a kid’s small hands should be great for the smaller form factor. And while the device itself isn’t very resistant, it comes with a stand cover that should protect it well.

2. Samsung Chromebook 4

The Samsung Chromebook 4 follows a line of great Chrome OS laptops that offer both quality and value. This one can be had at around $250 from Amazon for the 11.6-inch version, but it comes with a great design that meets eight military-grade (MIL-STD-810G) standards. It can handle transit drop, vibration, high temperature, temperature shocks, freezing, dust, humidity, and low pressure.

The unit comes with modest specs like an Intel Celeron N4000 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. Most don’t need more than that, though, making it one of the best Chromebooks for kids.

3. Asus Chromebook C202

The Asus Chromebook C202 was made with the little ones in mind, which is what makes it one of the best Chromebooks for kids. It was designed with a rugged construction, a spill resistant keyboard, a rubber bumper, and grips for better holding. Specs are basic. You get an Intel Celeron processor, 4GB of RAM, and only 16GB of storage at its base configuration. Regardless, this should be enough for most school tasks and basic entertainment.

4. Asus Chromebook Flip C214

The Asus Chromebook Flip C214 is very similar to the C202, with the only main difference being that this screen flips all the way back to tablet mode. The price is also goes up to over $400. Specs include an Intel Celeron processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and an 11.6-inch 1,366 x 768 display. If you want the same rugged designed on a more flexible body this is a great option, though.

5. Google Pixel Slate

The Google Pixel Slate breaks all the rules for finding the best Chromebooks for kids. It’s not rugged at all, has powerful specs, and that causes the price to go up. But we thought adding it was appropriate for those with older kids who can be trusted with a more advanced Chrome OS device. It can also double as a tablet, and a very capable one at that. The keyboard folio is very well made and this thing is a joy to use.

If you are worried about it breaking, its tablet form factor also allows for more complex and rugged cases. This Poetic one is one of our favorites. And if you were already thinking of getting your kid a tablet, this is a great way to bundle in a computer to the experience.

The base version comes with an Intel Core M3 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. But you can also find i5 and i7 versions with more RAM and storage.
