President Trump said he will receive a White House briefing on the death of George Floyd, a black man who died while in custody of Minneapolis police officers.

Speaking to reporters at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the president was asked whether the four police officers who were fired as a result of Floyd’s death should be prosecuted, to which he responded by saying he was “going to get a very full report” on the matter.

“We’re going to look at it, and we’re going to get a report tomorrow when we get back,” Trump said in Cape Canaveral on Wednesday while in town for the now-delayed launch of the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule.

Protests rocked Minneapolis on Tuesday after video emerged that showed Floyd, 46, pleading for his life and saying he couldn’t breathe as an officer, since identified as Derek Chauvin, dug his knee into his neck. Floyd is seen losing consciousness as bystanders express concern for his well-being. He was declared dead at the hospital, according to police.

The FBI has taken the lead in investigating Floyd’s death. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey on Wednesday called for Chauvin to be charged in the death.

“Why is the man who killed George Floyd not in jail?” Frey wondered. “If you had done it or I had done it, we would be behind bars right now.”
