Erdington road closed after police incident

Gravelly Hill was closed following an incident at around 8.30pm

Police are currently at the scene of an incident in Erdington.

Gravelly Hill North has been closed from Fentham Rd down to Hunton Hill.

Police have sealed the road off with police tape while the incident is dealt with.

Eyewitness Sarah Ann Roberts posted a video on Twitter and tweeted: "Major incident on Gravelly Hill Air ambulance in attendance."

Ambulance crews and police were called to the scene on the A5127 at 8.30pm tonight (May 27).

The air ambulance was also alerted, and landed on playing fields at the top of Hunton Hill.

The air ambulance was on the ground for 20 minutes before taking off. Witnesses said they saw a patient being put on a stretcher and placed in an ambulance.

The incident happened just hours after disorder broke out on Hunton Hill.

Armed police had swooped to arrest 'several men' with weapons.

Police were called to Hunton Hill, just before 3pm to deal with the incident. It is not known if the two incidents are connected.

West Midlands Police has been approached for comment.
