United States Coronavirus Death Toll Surpasses 100,000

The United States has the unfortunate distinction of being the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic. That distinction was buttressed by the latest numbers coming out concerning the coronavirus death toll in America. According to CNN, COVID-19 has officially claimed the lives of more than 100,000 Americans with an average of 900 deaths per day. 

The White House projected that the death toll could range anywhere from 100,000 to 240,000. President Donald Trump considers the 100K number to be a success in how his administration's response to the virus. "If we can hold that down, as we’re saying, to 100,000 ... we all, together, have done a very good job," said 45. 

Following the United States in the total number of COVID-19 deaths is the United Kingdom with 37,000 deaths. The U.S. also leads in the overall number of coronavirus cases with 1.7 million with Brazil placing a distant second with 400,000 confirmed cases.
