Man beaten with bat at flat in Newtownabbey

A man has been beaten with a wooden bat at a flat in the Whitewell Road area of Newtownabbey.

Police said four men forced their way into the property shortly after 8.40pm on Tuesday and assaulted the 35-year-old occupant.

He was also kicked and punched to the ground and was later taken to hospital for his injuries, which were not believed to be life threatening.

Detective Sergeant Will Arnott said: “Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident, to contact detectives on 101."
