A limited menu will be available to drive-thru customers

LONG queues are expected next week when McDonald's reopens 924 branches across Britain and Ireland for drive-thru customers.

The fast food giant confirmed that it would also be adding 75 of its restaurants to McDelivery services via Just Eat or Uber Eats.

It reopened 39 branches for drive-thru last week and had also been operating some delivery services, having shut all outlets in March 22 due to the coronavirus crisis.

But to the delight of many customers it is gradually returning to business.

It said the drive-thru locations would open between June 2 and 4.

The move means that 1,019 of its 1,428 restaurants across Britain and Ireland will have reopened, including all drive-thrus.

In a bid to maintain social distancing, fewer employees will be in the kitchen which means a limited menu will be on offer.

There will be no breakfast items, no milkshakes and no wraps.

There will also be a £25 spending cap on transactions and new opening hours of 11am to 10pm.

The chain said it would confirm the locations of the re-openings on each morning from June 2.

"Our teams are adjusting to new safety and hygiene procedures which will help them to work safely and socially distance.

"We are delighted to be returning to communities across the UK and Ireland but it will look different and take a little longer. Please bear with us."
