Mpilo Hospital Clinical Director Dr Solwayo Ngwenya has issued a statement disputing reports that he had acquired the deadly Coronavirus.

In a Twitter statement posted on Wednesday evening, Ngwenya said, "Dear All. The catastrophe is not on me personally. I am fine. The message is for you and politicians. Keep safe. Listen carefully to advice."

The earlier tweet by Ngwenya had suggested that he had acquired the deadly virus at a time when the nation had received a sharp increase of positive Coronavirus cases.

In his earlier post, Ngwenya had said, "Corona virus; of all the people why befall me! I have been your biggest fighter. Yet today as the sunset, a catastrophe unfolds in my hands. Why me? Why us? This is terrible. Now if my fellow citizens make mistakes, the grave diggers will be out soon. Nkulunkulu protect
them."

His post had attracted scores of social media users to pour messages of sympathy towards him.
