Day seven of the Lockdown League pits two teammates together in this all-yellow affair. The last match saw Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino take interest in the Lockdown League brought to you by Soccer Laduma, Reyaad Pieterse, and HyperSocial. As South African record-breaking athlete, Wayde Van Niekerk came out on top in a hard-fought win against Blue Bulls winger, Dylan Sage, this match was rather one-sided.

Mamelodi Sundowns duo, Lyle Lakay (FC Barcelona) and Sibusiso Vilakazi (Manchester City), came up against one another in a match where actions spoke louder than words in as the tournament continues to draw the best footballers in the world.

Manchester City started off the better side in the early stages. You could feel the tension between the Sundowns stars. City’s early dominance would turn into an early lead, as Raheem Sterling scored despite Lakay’s fruitless appeals for offside. The Premier League giants would put the game to bed with two quick-fire goals through Sergio Aguero and Ilkay Gündogan to make it 3-0 by half-time. Despite a healthy lead, Vila showed no emotion.

The second half started as the first half ended, as Manchester City playing made it 4-0 through Kevin De Brunye, with the Brazilians forward celebrating with his controller in silence. The fifth goal came in the latter part of the second half as the Belgian bagged his brace, much to Vila’s delight, as he showed five fingers to the camera. Even the limited chances Barcelona had were smothered out by Ederson. Nine minutes from full time, Sterling scored to make it 6-0 to the current English champions.

This result in round one has been the largest blowout thus far in the Lockdown league and arguably, the quietest, with both players uttering less than two words amongst each other, even though Vila’s team were silent and deadly.

As level three of the lockdown is only a few days away, we urge you all to stay tuned to Soccer Laduma and HyperSocial as the FIFA tournament continues to offer up brilliant match-ups. Let us all continue to follow lockdown regulations and stay safe.
