First Look at Neymar Jr.'s Nike Air Max 2090 Collaborations
Two colorways that pay homage to the star footballer’s upbringing and hometown.
by Ross DwyerParis Saint-Germain superstar forward Neymar Jr and Nike have a new collaboration on the way: two iterations of the Air Max 2090. With special details that draw from the famed footballer’s upbringing and hometown, these 2090s are an apt follow-up to Neymar’s story-driven duo of Shox R4s from 2019 — and mark the 2090’s first collaborative iterations.
Arriving in light tan and stark black, each does away with synthetic construction in favor of smooth nubucks and shaggy suedes. Lateral eyestays state “Sao Vincente” and “Praia Grande,” an acknowledgement of Neymar’s adopted home. Meanwhile, medial eyestays are split between “Jardim Gloria” and “Nautica III” for nods to his Brazilian football school and childhood neighborhood. The shoes are also accompanied by what appear to be interchangeable heel tabs. Apart from these meaningful embellishments, the colorways take divergent paths. The tan pair opts to ramp things up with pink, green, orange and yellow accents, while the black pair keeps it a touch more simple with gold, red and white secondary tones. Both are rounded off by tonal midsoles and beefy heel Air Max units.
Of course, Neymar Jr. is no stranger to Nike Sportswear or Jordan Brand collaborations. Apart from his aforementioned Shox R4s, the man they call Juninho has also lent his touch to a regal Shox TL and a glistening Air Jordan 5 Low.
Neymar’s latest Nike shoes will reportedly release at select Asian retailers like Nike Hong Kong on June 2, then roll out to Western stockists shortly thereafter. The MSRP has yet to be announced.
