by John JeffayLOVED ones paid tribute after a mum who raised £65,000 to battle breast cancer died aged 34.
Brave Dionne McIntosh was hailed for “always smiling” after she passed away from the disease on Sunday.
Husband Kevin told how she had remained strong throughout her chemo to protect daughters Sienna, six, and Aviana, four.
He said: “Her kids were her life. Even through the treatment she would still do anything for them, whether it was taking them out or anything.
“Nothing was ever too much for her. She was bubbly and very popular, she had time for everyone.”
Dionne, of Buckie, Moray, was diagnosed just after her 30th birthday.
But within months she’d raised £23,000 at a coffee morning, then raked in over £40,000 at a bash in the town in 2018.
Kevin said: “When she was diagnosed with breast cancer she just wanted to do something to help others in the same situation.”
Dionne’s efforts earned her an invite to The Queen’s annual garden party in Edinburgh last year.
Close pals, who helped with events, added online: “Dionne fought her illness courageously.
We’ve been blessed to have her in our lives.”
It comes as a mum who raised thousands of pounds in memory of her eight-year-old son who died from cancer has sadly passed away from the same disease.
Susan Hey, from Nairn, Inverness-shire, was diagnosed with incurable breast cancer a year after her son Hamish passed away from two different types of cancer.
She had previously battled breast cancer in 2015 and survived, but was then given a terminal diagnosis while she was still mourning the passing of Hamish.
The mum-of-two worked tirelessly, despite her diagnosis, to raise money in memory of her stricken son who passed away in 2017.
Tributes have flooded in for the mum-of-two who was described as a “beautiful soul”.
