Is This The Name Of Toyota's New Hardcore Corolla Hatchback?

Turns out the hardcore Toyota Corolla hatchback will have a lot in common with the GR Yaris.

It was hard not to be jealous when Toyota revealed the rally-inspired GR Yaris. Developed by Toyota Gazoo Racing and Tommi Makinen Racing, the GR Yaris is a dream come true for hot hatchback fans. Powering this pocket rocket is a 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine producing up to 268 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Since it only weighs 2,822 pounds, 0-62 mph is achieved in less than 5.5 seconds before the GR Yaris tops out at 143 mph. Sadly, there's zero chance the GR Yaris will slide into American dealerships. But do not despair US hot hatch fans, because Toyota has been listening to your pleas.

Judging from a teaser posted on social media recently, Toyota seems to be planning a new hot hatchback for its American audience, making Toyota fans' dreams come true in giving us a spicy version of the already impressive Corolla Hatchback. And according to Japan's Best Car, it will share the same powertrain as the GR Yaris.

According to the publication, Toyota's new hot hatch will be called the Corolla GRMN. Powered will allegedly be provided by the same 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder as the GR Yaris tuned to produce 268 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, matching the output of the Japanese GR Yaris.

This won't be the only component the Corolla GRMN will share either, as it also reportedly offer a six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive, which is great news for US customers who have missed out on the GR Yaris. The same powertrain is also expected to carry over to a hotter GR version of the Toyota CH-R.

This isn't the only Toyota model that will adopt the GRMN badge, either. The Japanese publication also claims the long-rumored hardcore Toyota Supra GRMN is still coming with improved rigidity, less weight, and an increased output of around 420 horsepower. GRMN models are more hardcore, with the latter two letters in the badge standing for "Masters of the Nurburgring", so the Corolla GRMN shouldn't be taken lightly.
