Lagos discharges 87 COVID-19 patients

- Eighty-seven coronavirus patients have been discharged in Lagos

- Those discharged patients include 40 females,47 males

- They have all been reunited with their families

Lagos has announced that 87 patients undergoing treatment in the state have been discharged.

This was disclosed by the Lagos state Ministry of Health via its official Twitter page.

“87 patients; 40 females,47 males, all Nigerians have been discharged from our isolation facilities to reunite with their families.

"They were discharged having fully recovered & tested negative to COVID19.

"With this, the number of patients successfully managed and discharged from our facilities is now 825," the government said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that as Nigeria's coronavirus cases have hit over 8,000, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) revealed the major reason why the number of confirmed infected persons is increasing.

The agency in a tweet on Tuesday, May 26, said the only reason coronavirus cases are going up is because we do not take responsibility by following partial lockdown guidelines the COVID-19 Presidential Task Force (PTF) put in place.

"The only reason #COVID19 confirmed cases are going up is because we do not #TakeResponsibility by following partial lockdown guidelines put in place by the Presidential Task Force on #COVID19," the tweet reads.

The NOA went to urge Nigerians to follow the preventive guidelines and instructions in order to stay safe.

Legit.ng had also reported that some officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) at Badore area of Ajah, Lekki, in Lagos have been reportedly beaten and held hostage by policemen.

According to a report on Tuesday, May 26, the LASBCA personnel were at Olumide Madariola Street, Sea Side Estate, to ensure compliance to the stipulated standard of the agency at ongoing construction.

The security agents who allegedly beat up the officials were said to be attached to a building which was under construction at the site.

One of the LASBCA staff who was brutalised by the policemen informed journalists that it all started when he and his team asked a group of construction workers at a site they had initially sealed to produce documents that authorised them to re-open the place.

The official said that upon their questioning, the policemen showed up, attacked and forced them into the building.

Confirming the development, Biola Kosegbe, the general manager of LASBCA and the commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Idris Salako, decried this act by the policemen.
