Covid-19: Kashmir records two deaths, JK toll reaches 26

With the death of two more persons due to COVID19 in Kashmir, the death toll reached 26 in J&K.

The health officials identified one of the victims as 70-year-old man from Sarnal Anantnag who died yesterday at GMC Anantnag and report came out positive posthumously.

The other has been identified as 55-year-old resident of Fateh Kadal Srinagar who had tested positive earlier this month and died of cardiac arrest today, officials added.

According to doctors, Anantnag man was suffering from underlying ailments like pneumonia and was admitted in the hospital on May 25.

His body was kept at mortuary and would be handed over as per the Covid-19 protocol, they said.

Regarding the Srinagar man, the doctors said he was shifted to CD Hospital from Surgical ICU SMHS on May 18 and died of cardiac arrest today.

With these fatalities, the death toll due to the virus upto 26 in J&K- 23 in Kashmkr and 3 in Jammu.

Srinagar district has recorded highest number of deaths—7 followed by Anantnag (5), Baramulla and Kulgam with four deaths while Budgam and Jammu have two each and one death each has been reported from Bandipora and Udhampur. (KNS)
