Solihull Moors have said a big thank you after more than £25,000 was raised from their ‘The Moors 4s’ challenge - and members of the public who are able to do so have been urged to donate towards the fund which is for two great causes.

Moors boss Jimmy Shan has led from the front in these challenges, which have been raising much needed money for both the NHS Charities Together and The Village of Forgiveness, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The latter charity, which many will be forgiven for not having heard of, is a new charity which supports ambitious projects which directly assist in the integration and education of excluded and vulnerable people in challenging locations worldwide.

The specific fundraising event will help launch the charity’s first UK based project which will be in partnership with the Solihull Moors Foundation and will be based in Chelmsley Wood.

Over 50 people took part in the challenge to run or walk 4 miles every 4 hours for 24 hours on Saturday 23rd May 2020.

Well over £25,000 has already been raised online across the two donation sites and the Moors have urged the public and local football supporters for help in getting that total even higher.

Boss Shan, his assistant manager Richard Beale, chairman Darryl Eales, vice-chairman Tim Murphy and club captain Darren Carter took part in the 24-hour challenge.

Many more participated ranging from club staff to local footballers including former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor and ex-West Brom midfielder James Morrison.
