Police called to Erdington after fighting broke out among armed thugs

Police were called to Hunton Hill, near Gravelly Hill Station following reports disorder had broken out with men who were wielding weapons

Armed police swooped to arrest men armed with weapons after disorder broke out in Erdington.

Police were called to Hunton Hill, just before 3pm today (Wednesday. May 27), following reports a fight had broken out with several men who were wielding weapons.

Martina Salatekova took a picture of the police scene showing the road flooded with police cars and officers.

She told BirminghamLive: "I could hear a lot of loud arguing and shouting from the direction of Gravelly Hill Station. Armed police then arrived followed by three more police cars and a van. I am not sure what had happened."

Detectives were going house to house making enquiries and trying to obtain CCTV which could provide vital evidence.

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman confirmed 'several' men had been detained by armed police.

She confirmed that armed police had been called and that weapons were involved.
