Thomas Partey proves he's exactly what Arsenal need in training ground video amid transfer talk
Mikel Arteta is known to be a long-term admirer of the midfielder, who has been continually linked with a move to Arsenal this summer
by Connor O'NeillThomas Partey has been showing Arsenal supporters what he can offer whilst training with Atletico Madrid.
The midfielder has long been tipped to grace the Premier League with his presence and the Gunners are among the clubs being tipped to make their move this summer.
Head coach Mikel Arteta is known to be a long-term admirer of the midfielder, and reports have emerged in recent months that the Gunners have opened talks with the Ghanaian over a move to the Emirates this summer.
But football.london understands that, at present, Arsenal may struggle to conclude a deal for the Ghana international, who has a buy-out clause in his contract somewhere around £43million.
This is due to the Gunners’ transfer budget being considerably smaller because of the current coronavirus pandemic that has rocked the world.
However, according to GhanaSoccerNet two weeks ago, Partey has made it clear to his representatives that he wants to secure a move to Arsenal, snubbing a move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain in the process.
And whilst in training this afternoon with Atletico on Wednesday afternoon, the tough-tackling midfielder enforcer showed exactly what he could offer in the heart of the Gunners' midfield next season.
Teammate Stefan Savic attempts to take him on in a 1 vs 1 drill, but Partey is clearly having none of it and takes out the former Manchester City man with a robust challenge.
Partey recently revealed how Atletico’s players "suffered a bit" during their first training session since the suspension of football activities in Spain due to Covid-19.
"It was different," Partey said after his side's first session back. "We suffered a bit at first because we're not used to training and keeping a distance [between each other], but we'll get used to it.
