Takumi Minamino's text messages to old boss about his Liverpool team-mates
by Jake Polden, https://www.mirror.co.uk/authors/jake-polden/Takumi Minamino is happy at Liverpool and is working with "good guys".
That's according to his former boss at Salzburg Jesse Marsch, who has remained in contact with the Japan international via text message.
Minamino was initially unsettled at Liverpool following his £7.25million move from Austria and needed time to adapt to his new surroundings.
But Marsch, who reckons Salzburg made a mistake in selling the forward too cheaply, says this is no longer the case and that Minamino is both happy and has made friends.
Marsch told Liverpool Echo's Blood Red podcast: "He is happy [at Liverpool] - he has talked about training being good and the guys being good guys.
"Taki will only turn up every day and do everything possible to try to improve.
"We've texted and checked in on different things. I give him a hard time about learning better English because I had to learn so much German, and now it's his turn to come to my side a little more.
"But he knows nothing will be given to him but he is willing to work for whatever - that's his mentality."
Minamino has made eight appearances in all competitions for the Reds since his January move, and has been working hard to acclimatise.
Back in March he spoke out about his trouble settling in, where he vowed to prove himself to his new manager Jurgen Klopp.
"I have been in this club for three months and I haven't played many games and my playing time is not that much – but this is not a good excuse," said Minamino.
"In order to appeal to my teammates and [for them to] understand what I'm good at, I have to do what I really need to do.
"I think I'm still [learning] to fully understand the team, but I still hate to wait. In order to make an instant impact and make a contribution to the team, I'm doing my best every day.
"I only have limited chances but when the manager needs me, I have to show the results of the manager's expectations."
