No live audience in Miss Universe Philippines 2020 crowning in October
by Eton B. ConcepcionWith major international events and large gatherings, including the 2020 Miss Universe pageant, in limbo due to the uncertain times brought about by the COVID-19 crisis, the finals of the new Miss Universe Philippines (MUPh) pageant has been moved to a later date.
The MUPh Organization has announced on its Facebook page, in response to numerous inquiries from members of the press, that the coronation night will be now held on Oct. 31. The MUPh 2020 finals was originally scheduled to be held on May 4, but was moved to June 14 due to the government imposed Luzon-wide lockdown and enhanced community quarantine measures to contain the COVID-I9 pandemic.
There will be adjustments in the way the pageant program will be delivered and that MUPh will be tweaking it to remain sensitive to the new normal,” assured Shamcey Supsup-Lee, national director of MUPh Organization, who recently celebrated her birthday with a sharing of 100,000 meals with our frontliners and fellow countrymen made possible through the help of her friends and partners and @byahengbusog.
It will be a one of a kind, MUPh creative director Jonas Antonio Gaffud said of the pageant finals. We will be playing with colors that represent the empowered Filipinas and to inspire Filipinos to be hopeful and to remind them that our hearts and minds are united, to heal as one, in rebuilding the nation, MUPh design council head Albert Andrada added.
However, MUPh has confirmed that the finals will be held with no live audience allowed in the finals' venue in observance of health and safety protocols set forth by the government in the war against COVID-19.
