The second season of the show, which aired in June 2019, left fans wanting more – and their patience has been rewarded, although co-creator Baran Bo Odar has confirmed that it’ll be the last chapter.

‘No more Dark for us, no more Winden. We will miss it,’ he said in an Instagram post.

But just when will the final series be released, and what’s going to happen in it?

When will Dark season 3 be released on Netflix?

The final season of Dark is set to land on Netflix on 27 June.

It’s not known how many episodes will be in the final season, but season one had 10 episodes and season two had eight – which may give us some idea of how many to expect.

It’s thought that all the episodes will drop at once, allowing you to binge-watch the final season to your heart’s content.

If you’ve missed out, you can still catch up with seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix before the last one is unleashed.

The show has a time travel narrative (Picture: Netflix)

The show – the first ever German language Netflix original series – has a time travel narrative which revolves around a missing child in the town of Winden, and the impact it has on four families, exposing their secrets and hidden connections.

Although it originally begins in 2018 the show jumps backwards and forwards in time as the families involved discover the existence of a wormhole in the caves underneath the local power plant – with intertwining storylines taking place in 1953 and 1986 as secrets are revealed and the lives of the families start to crumble.

You’ll have to watch the new season to find out who things pan out but the creators have promised that the loose ends will be tied up.

‘We will offer answers to the questions that our viewers have been asking and help untangle the story through time,’ Baran Bo Odar and fellow creator Jantje Friese have said.

‘It will be hard to us to walk away from those characters we have grown really fond of, but the beginning is the end, and the end is the beginning.’
