Some Everton fans erupt over links with £25m ace, other Premier League sides reportedly want him
by Giuseppe LabellarteA number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the report linking the Toffees with AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie, a player also said to be on the radar of Arsenal, Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, there has been contact from Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton – who are said to be keen on a new midfielder – and Newcastle with AC Milan over the past few weeks.
While Everton aren’t believed to have put an offer forward just yet, Newcastle reportedly offered €5m (£4.5m) for a loan move with a €25m (£22m) to €30m (£27m) obligation to buy, which was rejected.
Teamtalk, meanwhile, reported earlier this month that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal were interested in the 23-year-old, along with Wolverhampton Wanderers and the Magpies.
This season, the box-to-box midfielder has started 21 of Milan’s 26 Serie A games, and has been one of their brighter players amid continued poor form which has left them seventh in the league.
Although agent George Atangana appeared to pour cold water on any exit talk in April, as reported by Metro, Milan News then suggested that the Rossoneri may sell players who haven’t “fully convinced”, with Kessie as an example.
With the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin and Gylfi Sigurdsson having struggled for much of this season, it’s little surprise to see Everton linked with a high-calibre midfielder like Kessie, a tenacious, skilled, strong and defensively solid central midfielder with a superb engine and an eye for goal.
Here is what some Everton fans said on Twitter about the prospect of the £25million-rated ace joining the Goodison Park side:
