Dr Igwe extols Rotimi Amaechi at 55, describes him as a patriot

Eminent political scholar and former consultant to the World Bank, Dr Uche Igwe has extended his felicitations to the minister of transportation Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi on his 55th birthday anniversary.
In a letter addressed to the minister and personally signed by the prolific writer, he described Amaechi as a courageous, caring and compassionate leader who has left indelible infrastructural footprints in his home state and across the country.

His words: “I wish to thank God for you and your family on this special day of yours as you mark your birthday again. Your loyalty to your friends, compassion for the needy and courage to stand for the good of many are attributes that make you exceptionally stand out.
“Your footprints across the infrastructural landscape in the country remain indelible. My prayer is that God will continue to preserve you and provide Nigeria with the opportunity to benefit more from your vision and passion for a developmental state.”
Amaechi served as the fifth governor of Rivers state from 2007 to 2015 having served as the speaker of the state House of Assembly from 1999 to 2007.
His retention as the transport minister last year, as announced by President Muhammadu Buhari, attracted cheers from hundreds of Nigerians who witnessed the ministerial inauguration of the council chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The minister has been hailed for his reforms in the Nigerian transport sector that was nearly comatose before he came on board in 2015.
His achievements in the transport ministry -especially in the rail sector, where he is ensuring that all parts of Nigeria are connected by rail, has been hailed by experts.
For his exemplary achievements in office, the minister was last year promoted to the highest rank in the Catholic church under the order of the Knights of St. John.
The exemplification honour of the knights of St. John from Grand Master, Nigerian Temple Noble and Exalted Knights of the Holy Cross Knight of St. John International was conferred on Amaechi for his service to the order and humanity for over twenty years at the Pope John Paul II Catholic Centre in Abuja.
