KSW returns with lightweight title unification fight on July 11 in Warsaw, Poland

KSW is ready to return to action.

After cancelling their most recently scheduled show in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, the promotion is set to get back to business on July 11 with a show in Warsaw, Poland that will be held in a studio without an audience in attendance.

KSW officials confirmed the news to MMA Fighting along with the two fights that will headline the card. The event will be titled KSW 53.

“I am very excited to finally confirm the return of KSW,” KSW CEO Martin Lewandowski said. “Thanks to the pandemic it is has been over six months since the last KSW and this has seemed like an eternity for us.

“The event will take place July 11th in a studio in Warsaw and will feature a huge trilogy fight between rivals Norman Parke and Mateusz Gamrot. I feel it will be one of the biggest European fights ever. Norman is the interim champ, Gamrot is the champion, and they have a big history together. Very happy to make this fight on our return. The fight card will also feature some of KSW’s biggest Polish stars like former champions Marcin Wrzosek & Borys Mankowski as well as a few surprises yet to be announced. This is also the first KSW event where fans around the world can watch live on our brand new KSW App as well as KSWTV.com.”

The main event that night will feature a lightweight title unification bout as Norman Parke takes on Mateusz Gamrot.

Parke is currently riding a five-fight win streak including a split-decision victory over Marcin Wrzosek this past September to win the interim lightweight title. He will now face off with Gamrot, who previously defeated Parke in 2017 before an eye injury stopped their rematch five months later with that fight being declared a no contest.

Now Parke and Gamrot will face off to crown an undisputed lightweight champion in KSW.

The co-main event will feature two more lightweights hoping to get into title contention as Wrzosek takes on Borys Mankowski.

A former Ultimate Fighter contender, Wrzosek has bounced back and forth between wins and losses over his past six fights including a loss to Parke in his most recent outing. As for Mankowski, he picked up a submission win over Vaso Bakocevic in his last appearance in Nov. 2019.

More fights will be added to the upcoming KSW show in the coming weeks.
