Phillip Cocu delivers three-word message to Derby County fans on training return

Derby County news: The Rams' players and coaching staff have returned to Moor Farm ahead of the possible resumption of the 2019-20 Championship campaign next month

Derby County are back in training ahead of the return of the proposed return of the Championship next month.

The Rams returned to Moor Farm at the start of the week and were snapped today training at the club's Oakwood base.

Derby haven't played a match since the 3-0 defeat of Blackburn Rovers on March 8, when Phillip Cocu's side put themselves within five points of the play-offs thanks to back-to-back wins.

The coronavirus pandemic has halted the 2019-20 Championship season since then and matches finally look likely to return, albeit behind-closed-doors, next month.

A vote between clubs is being held this week and next to formally ratify when competition will return, with the middle of June the likely time matches will come back.

Rams boss Cocu, meanwhile, took to social media to update fans today.

"Back in training," he wrote on photo-sharing platform Instagram, alongside three pictures - two of him and one of the players training.

Cocu was decked out in training gear overseeing a session and for Rams fans, who have been without football for almost three months, it was a welcome sight.

"Oh God, I can’t wait for football to come back," one said.

"So good to see pictures like this, seems an age since I watched my beloved Rams," added another.

"Up the Rams!" said a third.

While a fourth added: "Brilliant. Stay safe."
