Three more fines issued to COVID-19 rule breakers

All were handed out at homes in Waterloo

by

There are still people in Waterloo Region not following the rules put in place by the province to help control the spread of COVID-19.

Three new fines were issued in the last week.

Region of Waterloo CAO Mike Murray says the fines were handed out by Waterloo bylaw officers at homes in that city, for gatherings of more than five people.

Police, bylaw and health inspectors made over 150 site visits in the last week, where residents were just given warnings or information about the rules.

300 other site visits were made where no action was required.

Since the start of April, a total of 15 fines have been issued in Waterloo Region.

On Wednesday morning, the Ontario government extended emergency orders until at least June 9.

That includes restrictions on social gatherings of more than five people.
