DSS arrests kidnapper of Kano Islamic scholar’s grandson

Operatives of the Department of State Security in Kano State have apprehended the Kidnapper of the famous Islamic Scholar, Dahiru Bauchi’s three-year-old grandson.
They have also rescued the boy and recovered from the suspect the ransom paid.
The boy (name withheld) was kidnapped at the residence of the Islamic scholar on May 22, 2020.
Confirming the arrest of the suspect, the Director, Kano DSS office, Muhammad Alhassan, said they were able to arrest the suspect in collaboration with the police in Kano State.

“We were able to apprehend the suspected culprit through joint Intelligence networking in Kano,” Alhassan said.
Alhassan noted that the Kidnapper, Umar Ahmad, 27, had initially requested N10 million ransom but later reduced it to N6 million.
“We immediately swung into action after our intelligence gathering uncovered the hideout of the kidnapper at Liberty Hotel room 37, Sabon Gari Abba Road.
“After raiding the hotel, we rescued the kidnapped boy who is healthy, arrested the kidnapper, and then recovered the money which we withdrew from his bank account,” he said.
He said the suspect would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
