In a rather alarming development, there was a huge jump in the number of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in the country following 76 new cases which were recorded. This means that the total number of confirmed cases in Zimbabwe now stands at 132 cases.  Before the huge jump, the total number of cases was 56.

The new cases were announced by Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa at a post-Cabinet briefing in Harare on Wednesday evening.

However, the Minister stressed apart from one case, all the new cases are from Zimbabweans who have recently returned home. Most of the returnees are coming mainly from South Africa and Botswana. The other case is the only case of local transmission among the 76.
