Oliver Dinsdale, 23, a barman at a Bills restaurant, jumped  to his death from a multi-storey car park in Woking, Surrey

A barman jumped to his death from a fourth floor multi-storey car park months before the birth of his first child, an inquest heard Wednesday.

Oliver Dinsdale, had recently discovered he was expecting a baby with his friend, Kitty Carlisle, when his body was found in a construction site below The Peacocks shopping centre car park, Woking, Surrey, a coroner heard.

The inquest was told that the 23-year-old twin, who was a barman at a Bills restaurant, had been acting oddly in the weeks leading to his tragic death.

His devastated mother, newly re-married Tracy Hayter said: 'About two weeks before he died, he stopped using his phone and he was not responding to messages which was very unusual. His brothers could not get hold of him either.

'At the time of his death, he was living in Woking. He had moved out of the family home because he was using drugs such as cannabis and he was also violent towards my new husband, John Hayter.

'Up until October 2017 he had been working at Bills restaurant. He'd had a number of girlfriends over the years and at the time of his death, one of his friends was pregnant with his child.'

The inquest heard that before he was discovered on November 10 2018, the shopping centre car park CCTV footage showed Oliver pacing up and down appearing 'agitated.'

At 11.23pm, he climbed onto the wall before disappearing immediately over the side.

Mrs Hayter added: 'The year before his death I noticed he was getting thinner and thinner and he had tests taken at the hospital. One morning he arrived at our home at 7am, intoxicated and very agitated. He made reference to people watching him in the garden. That made me realise something was wrong with him.'

The worried mother went to his home on several occasions but she was told he was fine before he was 'horrible' to her. In a statement she explained: 'I just thought he was in a bad mood which he often was.'

A security guard at The Peacocks Centre in Woking was the first person on the scene after receiving the news about a body discovered on Victoria Way.

Aminul Chowdhury told the inquest: 'I was working when I received a call from the control room officer who had received a call from a contractor to say somebody had fallen off a car park roof and was lying on the ground.

'The contractor was very distressed and shaking, pointing towards a male on the ground lying on his front, half of his body was on a wooden palette.'

A South East Coast Ambulance Service crew rushed to the scene and sadly certified the man's death at 12.33am on November 10 2018.

Following a post mortem examination, pathologist Dr Michael Hall confirmed that Oliver had died from multiple injuries after the traumatic fall.

A toxicologist revealed there was cannabis in his blood. There was also alcohol in the bloodstream, but this was below the legal limit for driving.

The inquest heard that Kitty Carlisle gave birth to a baby boy on June 12 last year with the support of his family and he was given the middle name of Oliver, after his father.

Assistant Surrey coroner Caroline Topping said: 'Oliver Dinsdale was born in Chertsey but had drifted apart from his family, taking drugs and causing problems with other family members. He had been treated for depression in 2017.

'On November 9 2018, he entered The Peacocks shopping centre car park and was captured on CCTV pacing up and down before climbing on the wall and disappearing from view.

'His body was found immediately below.

'In the weeks prior to this incident, Oliver had stopped work and had presented to his mother as being paranoid and delusional. He had not sought any assistance with his mental health concerns and he was not having any counselling at the time.

'When police searched they did not find anything indicating an intention to take his own life. The cause of his death was multiple injuries.

'His mother said he was behaving oddly but she thought he had been taking Class A drugs, not suffering from a mental illness. I am not satisfied at the time he jumped that he intended to kill himself.'

Sitting at Surrey Coroners Court in Woking, Ms Topping ended with a narrative conclusion. She said: 'Oliver jumped from the fourth floor of The Peacocks car park landing in the construction site below. He died from multiple injuries at the scene.

'I give my condolences to his family in what must have been a very shocking and tragic loss of a young family member.'
