Maharashtra COVID-19 Tracker: Maharashtra reports over 2,000 new Covid-19 cases; state tally climbs to 56,948

1,044 new COVID-19 positive cases and 32 deaths have been reported in Mumbai

Maharashtra reported a spike of 2,190 COVID-19 new cases and 105 deaths on Wednesday. With this, the state has recorded 56,948 cases and 1,897 deaths so far.

A total of 1,044 new cases were reported in Mumbai, taking its overall count to 33,835. Thirty-two people succumbed to the infection in Mumbai today. Out of 32 deaths 15 patients had co-morbidities. Also, 19 patients were male and 13 were female. Three deaths were below 40 years of age, 12 deaths were above 60 years of age, and 17 were between 40 to 60 years. Death toll has now gone up to 1,097 in the city. Also, 240 patients were discharged today and a total of 9054 COVID-19 patients have been discharged after full recovery until today.

The slum-clusters of Dharavi alone reported 18 new cases today, taking the total number of patients to 1,639.

Also, 16 deaths were recorded in Thane, 10 in Jalgaon, 9 in Pune, 7 in Navi Mumbai, 7 in Raigad, 6 in Akola, 4 in Aurangabad, 3 in Nashik, 3 in Solapur, 2 in Satara, 1 was recorded in Ahmednagar, 1 in Nagpur, 1 in Nandurbar, 1 in Panvel, and 1 in Vasai-Virar. Additionally, 1 death of a Gujarat resident occurred in Mumbai.

Out of the 105 deaths today, 72 were men and 33 women. 50 of them aged over 60 years, 45 were from the age group 40 to 59 years and 10 were aged less than 40 years. 66 out of 105 patients (63%) had high-risk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc.

Out of 4,03,976 laboratory samples, 56,948 have been tested positive for COVID-19 until today.

Also, 964 patients were discharged today and a total of 17,918 COVID-19 patients have been discharged after full recovery until today. Currently, 5,82,701 people are in home quarantine and 37,761 people are in institutional quarantine.

Patient doubling rate of the state was 11.5 days in the last week, which has improved today to 14.7 days. Out of the total laboratory tests done in the country (32,42,160), about 12.4% tests were done in Maharashtra. 3142 tests per million population in the state against the national figure of 2363 tests per million population.The recovery rate in the state is 31.5 per cent, the state health department said.
