'Animal abuser, 18, set kitten's face on fire with blow torch'

An 18 year-old animal abuser set a kitten’s face on fire with a blow torch after arguing with the animal’s owner, police say. William Carr, from Milton in Florida, is said to have attacked the baby cat while working on a house painting job last week with its owner.

That woman, who has not been identified, brought two adult cats and the kitten to work with her. After she and Carr got into an argument about an unspecified issue, Carr is said to have vowed to kill her pets.

The Pensacola News Journal says Carr put the kitten in a black bucket and used the blow torch to light up a cereal box. He is then said to have tossed the burning box into the bucket with the kitten, setting its face and head on fire.

Despite the violence of Carr’s alleged attack, the kitten was quickly pulled to safety, and only suffered singed whiskers. Its owner called Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, who charged Carr with felony animal abuse.

He was booked into Santa Rosa County Jail, and released on $5,000 bond the same day ahead of his next court hearing.
