Robbie Williams takes a swipe at Beady Eye and Oasis' attempts to crack the US

Robbie Williams seems to be intent on reigniting his feud with Liam Gallagher lately, with his latest comments taking aim at the rocker’s band Beady Eye.

Following Oasis splitting, Liam went on to form Beady Eye in 2009 and released two albums in five years, before disbanding and Liam going on to have a solo career.

And it sounds like Robbie wasn’t exactly a fan of the Oasis star’s second band as he claims Beady Eye just ‘weren’t very good’ while taking a swipe at Liam in a new YouTube interview.

Robbie said: ‘Liam did Beady Eye and, to be honest, the songs weren’t very good, it’s as simple as that. The idea and concept of that whole thing wasn’t very good.’

He also hit out at Oasis and their attempts to crack the US, with Robbie claiming the iconic 90s band were not ‘massive’ Stateside – despite Wonderwall landing number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

‘Oasis had a decent career in America, not a massive career,’ he suggested.

‘Noel [Gallagher] did a double thing with Snow Patrol in America, playing reasonable-sized venues, nothing gigantic, nothing to be ashamed about either, but not on a level that does anything but make forty-somethings very happy, which his music does.

‘It’s not true that he’s massive in America, he’s just done well. Liam isn’t one of the biggest stars worldwide. ‘

There was a compliment in there somewhere, though.

While Robbie said he knows he and Liam ‘have beef’, he praised the star’s solo career, adding: ‘He writes a great lyric, he does great melodies and he is the voice of a generation.’

It comes after Robbie was seen giving Liam a, err, backhanded compliment that called him ‘iconic’ but a ‘d**khead’ too.

Speaking to The Sun, Robbie said: ‘The thing about Liam is he’s incredible. He’s an incredible singer — proper rock and roller.

‘The world’s a better place for him being in it. He’s iconic.Sometimes you have to separate the art from the d**khead. And I can do that.’

Cast your minds back to 1995, however, and Liam and Robbie had once been pals, after Robbie left Take That.

Things turned sour when Liam’s brother Noel then called Robbie the ‘fat dancer from Take That’ and the feud soon escalated. So much so, that Liam and Robbie threatened to go head-to-head in a boxing match at the Brit Awards 20 years ago.

Liam and Robbie had once been pals back in 1995 after he left Take That, but their feud began when Liam’s brother and Oasis bandmate Noel Gallagher called Robbie the ‘fat dancer from Take That’.

Two decades later, Robbie had called it on again in October, suggesting he and Liam get in the ring, but later changed his mind when his wife Ayda Field said the idea was ’embarrassing’.
